Mental Health and Wellbeing

GURCA have been awarded £8,000 from Scottish Government’s Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund (via the Highland Third Sector Interface) to continue to support mental health here in Glen Urquhart in 2023 and into 2024.

At present we run three activities:

  1. Bite and Blether Every Tues 12:00-14:00 ; a free soup and sandwich lunch where local people can connect and be signposted to support groups and advice. The group are lovely and we’d like more of this community to join us. We promise a warm welcome.
  2. Laddies Night Mainly Tuesdays 19:00-21:00; this is aimed at helping men connect, we like to think of it as a ‘Youth Club for us Blokes’ its a chance to meet up, have a chat and a brew over a game of cards, cornhole or darts and look out for each other. We’ve gone for walks cooked sausages over the fire , held Bushcraft sessions, celebrated Rabbie Burns, raced cars, supported the Men’s Shed and lots of other things – come along and join in.
  3. ‘Hall of Games’ – a regular afternoon session to get together and play games, have a brew and chat. Thursdays 13:30-1630.
