Our Team

In late 2021, GURCA received a 3 year funding package from the Scottish Government Strengthening Communities fund to employ a Community Development Officer. This fund was targeted at Communities who were growing their capacity but did not have a paid member of staff. Out of over 80 applications, GURCA were 1 of the 21 successful applicants.

Dan Light is our Community Development Officer.

Dan Light

“There is something very special about this place: the landscape, nature, its history, identity and the people that live here. After first visiting a few years back the pull to return permanently became irresistible; and after a few years planning we fulfilled that ambition earlier this year, moving up to the Glen from the Dorset coast.

I grew up in Gloucestershire and have lived, studied and worked in various places throughout the Westcountry and South Wales. Before relocating to Drumnadrochit, I’d spent the last 15 years teaching Science (Biology) in a large 11-18 Comprehensive School.
You may see me out walking locally with our two dogs Darcey and Margo, if so please stop by and say hello. We’ve felt very grateful to be here over the last few months, meeting lovely folk and exploring. I’m really looking forward to working in the Glen and engaging with projects to make a difference to lives here – it really is a very special place to be.”
