GLENURQUHART RURAL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

There are several sub-committees, set out below, which welcome members who are interested in becoming involved.  If you are interested in joining any of these committees, please contact Susan Clark or Carolyn Wilson.

Glenurquhart Public Hall Management Committee

The well-used and much loved village hall in Drumnadrochit was transferred to the ownership of GURCA in 2018.

It is managed on a day-to-day basis by a small committee, which oversees bookings and rentals and day to day maintenance and cleaning. The Committee keeps separate accounts and has autonomy regarding expenditure on goods and services required to keep the hall safe, clean and comfortable for users. The committee runs various fundraising events throughout the year, for the benefit of the hall.

The committee is always keen to recruit new members, particularly those with relevant skills such as general maintenance, marketing, fundraising, social media and simple book keeping. (Link)

Fundraising committee

GURCA has a range of financial commitments and receives no routine external funding to cover these costs. We are always seeking to find ways of fundraising to help with expenses and would like to set up a dedicated fundraising sub- committee to plan and oversee events and initiatives. If you think you could help with this, please do get in touch.

Glenurquhart Public Hall Redevelopment Committee

The community has long held aspirations to modernise and redevelop the hall. Plans have been drawn up and now that the ownership of the hall has been transferred to GURCA, we are in a position to start to identify potential funders and take the project forward.

If you have skill and/or experience of major funding applications or building development, you would be an invaluable asset to this small sub-committee and we would urge you to get in touch.

Community Asset Transfer projects

GURCA is investigating several potential opportunities for taking ownership of assets on behalf of the community.  These include the Drumnadrochit Tourist Information Centre and car park, land associated with new building development opposite the surgery, and the Urquhart Castle visitor centre and car park.

If you think you have relevant skills or the enthusiasm to become involved in any of the work groups associated with these projects, contact Carolyn Wilson in the first instance.
